MOSS 2007 - Getting Started

One of the first choices to make is to understand which version to purchase all which is totally based around your requirements. So the first thing to do is to check the features list which is available here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointtechnology/FX101758691033.aspx?ofcresset=1. There must have been a business reason which made you think about implementing MOSS 2007, and the comparison chart will help to provide a good source of information to you to decide which technology is right for you. So thats the getting started part done :) The next step is to have a Sharepoint consultant provide you with a demonstration of the features and product capabilities. This will give you the chance to ask all the necessary questions related to your business need and to start a framework of how Sharepoint will fit into your organisation. Remember, Sharepoint has lots of features, so try and keep a wish list of basic items you need, and then expand your basic and intermediate needs, try and keep everything as simple as possible to begin with, perhaps concentrate on a business need an d start with piloting the solution in order to gain more in depth understanding of the features, and most importantly have the hands on experience of using the product. I always recommend utilising the standalone training prior to a pilot which can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7bb3a2a3-6a9f-49f4-84e8-ff3fb71046df&displaylang=en.
